About us, our History & where we are today!
Who are we and how did we start off.....?
The Hobsons Bay Sport & Game Fishing Club began in December of 1995, When the club opened it only had 35 members! The first club meeting was held at the Altona Scout Group Hall in Civic Parade, Altona.
The club is now 22 years old, and as a club we have grown over the years. Some of our founding members are still active members today.
On August 28th 2001 the Hobsons Bay City Council unanimously resolved to give owners consent to the proposal of Hobsons Bay Sport & Game Fishing Club and the Australian Coast Guard to construct a building for club facilities on W.G. Cresser Reserve, where we are today!
A new safe boat harbour had just been built and completed in April 2001 for the safe launching and retrieving of water crafts which is a great asset to our type of sport for all to appreciate.
The club had then drafted and put in place a syllabus of competitions and events and held meetings on a monthly basis at the newly built club rooms on W.G. Cresser Reserve, Altona.
The club welcomes new membership from anyone who wants to learn about fishing to the experienced. Families and junior members are most welcome and encouraged to participate in this very relaxing sport.
